Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou 2020 is a Saint-Julien red produced by the team behind Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, offering an approachable introduction to the estate’s style.
Merlot leads the blend, bringing ripe plum, blackberry and a supple texture, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds blackcurrant, structure and freshness. Petit Verdot contributes subtle spice and additional depth. Violet, mocha and cedar develop around the dark fruit as the wine opens.
The palate is polished and generous, with velvety tannins and enough acidity to keep the ripe fruit precise. It has the refinement expected from Saint-Julien, but in a style designed to become accessible earlier than the château’s more structured wines.
The 2020 is drinking well now with some air, while retaining enough balance and structure for additional bottle development.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, braised short ribs, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses.
Serve around 60–64°F. If drinking now, decant for approximately 30–45 minutes.
