Château Cantenac Brown 1996 — Margaux, 3ème Grand Cru Classé
Thirty years old and still showing beautifully. Cantenac Brown is a 3rd Growth Margaux estate with 59 hectares of vines on the classic gravel soils of Cantenac — one of the best terroirs in the appellation. The 1996 is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, from one of the finest Médoc vintages of the decade.
Deep garnet with bright ruby flashes. Layered aromatics of dark cherries, blueberry, violets, tobacco leaf, leather, and black truffle. On the palate, smooth and seamlessly integrated, with seared blackcurrant, graphite, espresso, and a long, silky finish. Classic aged Margaux at its best — drink now.
Pair with rack of lamb, truffle risotto, or aged hard cheese.
