The Durand is a specialized wine-opening tool designed for mature bottles with fragile, deteriorated or difficult corks.

It combines two systems in one device: a traditional corkscrew helix secures the center of the cork, while the two-pronged extractor slides between the cork and the bottle. Used together, they support the cork from both the inside and outside, significantly reducing the risk of an old cork breaking or crumbling into the wine.

For collectors who regularly open mature Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo, Port or other cellar-aged wines, the Durand is one of the most useful tools to have available. It is particularly valuable with corks that have softened, become brittle or adhered to the inside of the bottle after many years of aging.

How to use: Insert the corkscrew completely into the cork first. Then carefully insert the two-pronged portion between the cork and bottle neck. Rotate and pull both components together slowly until the cork is removed intact.

Made for collectors, sommeliers and anyone opening valuable older bottles.
