With the 2005 vintage, for the first time in history, the GAJA family decided to produce a classic Brunello without single vineyard designation, blended from all 40 acres the family has planted throughout the entire region. Pieve Santa Restituta’s Brunello di Montalcino is now produced from a selection of estate-grown grapes from throughout the winery’s four non-contiguous vineyards as well as 25 acres of southwest facing vineyards in Torrenieri, in northeastern Montalcino, acquired in 2006. Brunello di Montalcino in 2016 blessed us with complex and captivating wines. Characterized by deep ruby colors, the wines are pure with vivid aromas, they are structured but also fine and gracious with lively freshness and gentle tannins.
Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2016
Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello di Montalcino 2016 has a deep garnet color. On the nose
the wine is refreshing and youthful, with intriguing notes of raspberry and strawberry, very complex and intense, showing a well-defined hint of white pepper. The entrance is voluptuous with sweet pure fruit. The tannins are easily detectable but velvety and beautifully integrated. It is a harmonious and gentile wine, immediately impressive, yet with structure and framework to insure a long life in the cellar.
