A satisfying and classic Bordeaux, with rich, dark fruit, a velvety texture and a woody and dry finish.
Franc Couplet is one of the best value everyday red Bordeaux wines in the US market. It embodies everything that wine lovers come to Bordeaux for: earthy, woody aromas, succulent but dry fruit, freshness, structure and ageing potential.
Franc Couplet is located in the eastern part of the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux, on clay and limestone soils. The property is owned by Eric Meynaud and his family.
Winemaking involves 3-4 days of cold maceration prior to alcoholic fermentation, for gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. After fermentation, 50% of the wine is aged in oak, 50% in stainless steel. 2018 was a warm, opulent vintage, giving generous wines, with a velvety texture and ripe tannins.
